Third Grade News

Mrs. Glinka’s and Mrs. Holmberg’s Class-3A                             April 2, 2001

Math News

This month we will continue to work on our division facts 0-9.  We hope for proficiency of 40 facts in 3 minutes or less.  Please continue to work on their facts at home.  There is a good web site at WWW.aplusmath.edu

 

Handwriting News

We will continue using cursive writing for Spelling and titles on papers.  They should be encouraged to practice at home.

 

Social Studies

This month we will be starting a new unit on Washington D.C.  More news to follow on this in upcoming newsletters.  We first need to finish up Chapter 8 and take the test.

 

Science

We will continue the unit on Rocks and Minerals.  There will be a guest speaker later this month from my favorite shopping place, Borsheims.  The will explain the fine art of gemology to the class.  This should be very interesting.

Language Arts

We will continue to work on possessive pronouns.

 There will be a creative writing assignment due at the end of the month.  The topic will be:  The person I most admire and why I admire him/her.

(Minimum one page with 3 or more paragraphs)

 

Religion

We will be planning the Mass for Friday, April 6th.

We will continue studying Chapter 12 on Sacraments

 

Reading
We will continue to read the Laura Ingalls Wilder book, The Little House on the Prairie.  The comprehension sheets will be coming home.  Please make sure they are answered in complete sentences.

 

Special Classes

Art: Masterpiece art will be taught again this month.  The featured artist will be Grant Woods.  He is famous for painting American Gothic.

 

 

Homework Calendar

Monday: Math p. 111-112, 2-40 evens

Spelling Lists will come home today.

Read Chapter 8 and fill out comprehension sheet in Little House on the Prairie

Tuesday: Math Review Ws

Science Wrap It Up WS

Study division facts for at least 15 minutes

Wednesday:  Math p. 114 1-18

Spelling:  Use at least 5 words in complete sentences.

Social Studies:  Vocabulary Review WS

Thursday: Study for Social Studies Test over Chapter 8 material.

Study for Spelling Test

Reminders:

All library fines and cafeteria charges must be paid prior to your child receiving their report card.

 

 Classroom Star

 Jeremy Wright received the Student of the Week Award.  He has worked very hard all year.  His favorite subject is math and art.  We are honored to have Jeremy in our class.

 

 

 

 

 Easter Break will be after classes on April 12th to 18th.  Classes resume on April 19th.  We wish everyone a wonderful Easter.

 

Attention
