Let’s visit Washington D.C.

Introduction

Congratulations! Your group has been selected to be the tour guides and make arrangements for the classes upcoming tour of Washington D.C. We know that you will meet the challenge. You will map out the sites we will visit and be able to share interesting information about the sites selected. We all should have a great time and can’t wait for you to share all your findings.

Task

You will work in a group of four and share duties to complete a brochure telling about the sites your group has selected and give a travel itinerary for each of the three days your class will be touring Washington.

1. Get together with your group and review some of the sites available to visit in Washington DC. Brainstorm about what you think would be interesting to you as well as the rest of the class

2. Develop a list of possible sites and a brief summary of at least 12-15 various locations your class could visit. (Each student must research at least 3 locations.)

3. Using the site information from Task 2 develop a survey and find the top 9-10 sites your class wishes to visit. (Two students should share this task.)

4. Create a map or locate a map from the Internet to show the various sites your class will be visiting. ( The two students who did not work on the survey should complete this task.)

5. Arrange an itinerary or schedule of visits to the various sites over the three-day visit. Keep in mind the travel time, hours of operation for the site, and how long it will take to actually tour the point of interest.

6. Create your brochure for your Washington DC visit. It must include:

a. A map of the city

b. Each day’s itinerary and a brief description of each site you will visit and the highlights of that stop

c. An estimation of time needed to tour that site

d. The brochure needs to be colorful and visually interesting.
